In the event of major outages and if you need to contact emergency services, here are a few tips:

1. If you have no power, plug in a generator if one is available.
2. Use your cellphone.
3. Listen to public announcements on the radio.
4. Move to a more densely populated area to find help and a working phone line, if weather and road conditions allow.
5. Go to the nearest police station.
